HOW TO SHUT DOWN KODI PROPERLY & WHY IT’S SO IMPORTANT!!!
We wanted to start out by showing you how to properly close the Kodi media Center platform and why it is so important to do. KODI is like a ‘computer’. It is its own operating system and thus needs to be shut down correctly after each use just like your PC (computer). Kodi needs to be properly closed, and we will show you the proper way to close Kodi below.

The proper way to shut down kodi
If you have any type of video playing in Kodi, press the stop button to stop the stream from playing. The next step is to press the power button at the bottom left side of the screen. The power button is next to a star button, which is used to pull up favorites that you have saved previously.

After pressing the power button, a pop-up will appear that will show Exit.

After pressing the okay button, let Kodi close on its own. This can take five seconds to over a minute depending on if Kodi is performing any background operations or updates. We know that sometimes Kodi does take a wihile to fully close, but it is extremely important to let it close on its own in the correct manner.

Why it is so important to close Kodi properly?
Kodi performs many actions and processes in the background all the time that is never seen by the end-user. This includes add-on updates, system maintenance, system updates and system cleaning. Kodi is almost always doing something in the background while you are using it.

Many problems can occur when you simply press the home button instead of closing Kodi properly. This can include lost shortcuts, a completely black screen when you open Kodi the next time, a corrupted user data folder and missing important add-on updates.

The reason that Kodi can take a while to close is that is finishing up any background operations were processes before it completely closes. When you press the home button instead of closing Kodi properly you interrupt and stop any background processes that were currently being done. This is what causes some of the problems listed above.

So now that you know how to close the Kodi media Center platform correctly and how important it is to do so please always remember to close Kodi properly and allow it to completely close on its own.
This will help to keep your Kodi media Center program running properly and will help keep all of your add-ons up to date and working properly.
